Caros utilizadores,
É com o coração pesado (e uma carga de servidor ainda mais pesada) que anunciamos, neste dia 1 de abril, a decisão histórica de unir os dois titãs da cena IRC portuguesa.
Após meses de intensas negociações conduzidas via DCC Chat e muito comportamento passivo-agressivo no #1_de_abril, temos o orgulho de confirmar a fusão total e completa da PTirc e da PTnet.
A nova rede, provisoriamente denominada PT+ 5G Turbo (o nome ainda está pendente de revisão de marca registada por um tipo chamado “Zé” que é op desde 2002), irá combinar as melhores características de ambas:
⚡ A lendária estabilidade da PTnet com a capacidade da PTirc de ter mais de 4 utilizadores num canal sem netsplitting.
⚡ A icónica mensagem /quit “brb” que dura 3 dias, agora com a segurança de ponta de não ter SSL em metade das portas.
⚡ Guerras Infinitas: A eterna rivalidade sobre qual rede é a “verdadeira” rede portuguesa finalmente acabou. Agora podemos todos concentrar-nos no que realmente importa: discutir se uma “bifana” deve ter cebola ou não, mas agora num único canal unificado.
O que muda para si?
1️⃣ Serviço de nicknames: A sua antiga palavra-passe do NickServ será incorporada. Se tinha palavras-passe diferentes para cada rede, a sua nova palavra-passe será a combinação de ambas. Boa sorte para se lembrar dela.
2️⃣ Operadores: Todos os operadores de canal manterão os seus poderes. Isto significa que, se um canal tinha 10 ops antes, agora terá 20. Acreditamos num sistema hierárquico totalmente redundante.
3️⃣ Endereço do servidor: O novo servidor unificado será: irc.pt-plus-5g-turbo.dyndns.org (ainda estamos à procura de um host permanente).
A migração é automática. Se tentares ligar-te hoje e o teu cliente IRC apresentar um aviso de “Atualização de Software” que se pareça suspeitosamente com um Rickroll, não te assustes. Trata-se apenas dos novos Termos de Serviço.
Para celebrar este momento histórico, iremos realizar uma grande cerimónia de inauguração no #1_de_abril. O primeiro utilizador a entrar com sucesso sem ser automaticamente banido por um filtro de spam em conflito ou algo do género, será coroado “Rei da Divisão” e receberá o direito de se gabar para sempre.

📢 Official Announcement: PTirc and PTnet to Merge! A New Era of Portuguese IRC Begins. 🤝
Dear users,
It is with a heavy heart (and an even heavier server load) that we announce, on this 1st day of April, the landmark decision to unite the two titans of the Portuguese IRC scene.
After months of intense negotiations conducted via DCC Chat and a lot of passive-aggressive behaviour in #1_de_abril, we are proud to confirm the total and complete merger of PTirc and PTnet.
The new network, tentatively named PT+ 5G Turbo (the name is still pending trademark review by a guy named “Zé” who has been an op since 2002), will combine the best features of both:
⚡ The legendary stability of PTnet with the ability of PTirc to have more than 4 users in a channel without netsplitting.
⚡ The iconic /quit message “brb” that lasts 3 days, now with the cutting-edge security of having no SSL on half the ports.
⚡ Endless Wars: The eternal rivalry over which network is the “real” Portuguese one is finally over. Now we can all focus on what truly matters: arguing about whether a “bifana” should have onion or not, but now in a single, unified channel.
What changes for you?
1️⃣ Nickname Service: Your old NickServ password will be merged. If you had different passwords for each network, your new password will be the combination of both. Good luck remembering it.
2️⃣ Ops: All channel operators will retain their powers. This means that if a channel had 10 ops before, it will now have 20. We believe in a fully redundant hierarchy system.
3️⃣ Server Address: The new unified server will be: irc.pt-plus-5g-turbo.dyndns.org (we’re still looking for a permanent host).
The migration is automatic. If you try to connect today and your IRC client displays a “Software Update” prompt that looks suspiciously like a Rickroll, please do not be alarmed. That is just the new Terms of Service.
To celebrate this historic moment, we will be hosting a grand opening ceremony in #1_de_abril. The first user to successfully join without being automatically banned by a conflicting spam filter or something like that, will be crowned “King of the Split” and will receive eternal bragging rights.
We look forward to having you with us as we write the next chapter of Portuguese IRC. Same friendly community, now with 100% more server lag! 🚀
